CODECA is an indigenous voluntary NGO initiated by local communities living adjacent natural resources in Uganda.  We first operated under the brand name of Budongo Forests Community Development Organization (BUCODO) since February 2000 and we transformed to CODECA in 2010.
Our major role is contributing towards securing the conservation of natural resources as well social protection and development for vulnerable sections of people in society including but not limited to children, youth and women in Uganda. We enable the communities, CBOs, and interest groups around Natural resources to realize sustainable resource conservation measures, community development and economic livelihoods in an integrated gender, climate change, Disaster risk reduction and HIV/AIDS sensitive and sustainable manner. We strive to improve livelihoods and welfare of local communities by conserving the environment through sustainable development approaches.
